Time flies…

I have no idea where the time goes, I mean to post all the news in here but never seem to find the time! So what have I been up to? Well - in a nutshell – lots of different things!
Firstly I just want to remind you all that I’ll be supporting the amazing Imelda May for most of her UK tour in November, so please do come along to a show! I’m also getting dates through for my UK tour in February, so please keep an eye on the GIGS page as I will be adding dates all the time. Of course you can always sign up to the newsletter as well if you prefer to have the dates drop into your inbox, just pop your details in that box on the right of this post and sign up! I promise this list is only used by us and we do not pass your details on to anyone!
So…I’ve been doing some song-writing and hope to have some new songs in the set very soon, I am also going to be doing some recording over the winter for the new CD! Too early to predict a release date yet, but suffice to say you will be updated here!
I’ve been out and about with some interesting line-ups as well, I just got back from a last-minute trip to Spain to play at the ‘High Rockabilly’ weekend. I got a call on Weds evening asking me to replace one of the headliners who had pulled out at the last minute, so I hopped on a plane, did a quick run-through with the backing band (most of whom I know but hadn’t played with before!), and I gotta tell you it was fantastic! What a great fun gig! Here’s a pic of the crowd from the stage, it was a wild show!

The weekend before that I towed the Airstream out for its very last trip of the year and we went to the Great Dorset Steam Fair where I was playing blues with my old muckers Al Gare (Imelda May band) and Dean Beresford (Richard Hawley band). It was an amazing event, so much to see and do! However, in true Bloater tradition all we did was sit and sunbathe, talk crud with our muso mates and drink tons and tons of beer! We also met a lot of rather fabulous people and produced lots of great blues, even if I do say so myself!
In closing I just want to draw your attention to some great gigs coming up -
Thurs 15th Sept – Big Boy Bloater and the Limits
Cellar Bar Blues, The Maltings, Farnham, Surrey
This is my local and has always been a great gig, I’ve been going to this (and playing at it!) for many, many years and the atmosphere is always great. Get there early to get a seat, or just stand and boogie at the back!
Fri 16th Sept – Big Boy Bloater and the Limits
Annabel’s Cabaret, Vauxhall St, Plymouth
This is another great place, the club always packs out and they have a reputation for some wild nights! Again make sure you’re early enough to bag a spot near the stage!
Sat 24th Sept – Big Boy Bloater with The Barcodes
Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, Kent
A band I have never played with before, so this will be a great fun experimental evening! ;o) But seriously, this will be a great night, The Barcodes are a great band and I’m really excited to be doing this show with them. It will certainly be an exclusive, so don’t miss out!
Sun 25th Sept – Big Boy Bloater with Al and Dean
The Actress & Bishop, Ludgate Hill, Birmingham – FREE! From 3pm
These gigs are legendary, and not just because the beer is free (although that always helps!)! Want to see what people in busy bands do with their spare time? Want to spend a Sunday afternoon in a great pub with lots of like-minded people knowing you can’t get told off because it’s actually a legitimate gig? Then come along!! All kicks off around 3pm…ish and is a great example of three blokes drinking and having a lot of musical fun! Usually a few special guests as well….!
That’s it folks – catch ya soon!
